What I think is that in case of adsense in order to have good high paying ads you need to have good contents on the site and along with it the placement of the ad should be as such that the click rate is high.
In case of adwords the ads which you are creating that should be on such keywords which will get you not only good traffic but relevant traffic so that what ever you are trying to sell reaches your right customer.

I read from 1 of the article that one of the way to increase Google Adsense click rate is to position your ads at the right place. The ads should not give the viewers that they are just there, out of no where. The ads should blend into content, or positions at the right corners etc.

I am currently also trying to place the ads intelligently, needs time to trial and error. Will post back when i see there is a inprovement in the click through.

You can earn money from adsense (http://www.submitshop.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=3) not from adword.
For better earning from Google adsense you should have unique contents to get more hits and more adsense clicks
